Is Snickers Vegan?

Snickers packaging

Not Vegan

Not certified

Snickers bars are not vegan. Every standard variety contains multiple dairy derivatives in the milk chocolate coating and the nougat layer, plus egg whites in the nougat itself. These are not trace amounts or cross-contact risks; they appear explicitly on the ingredient label as intentional ingredients.

The catch: The nougat contains egg whites, and the chocolate coating is milk chocolate loaded with skim milk, lactose, and milkfat. Two animal ingredient categories, not one.

The standard US Snickers singles bar lists these ingredients directly on the label: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Chocolate, Skim Milk, Lactose, Milkfat, Soy Lecithin), Peanuts, Corn Syrup, Sugar, Palm Oil, Skim Milk, Lactose, Salt, Egg Whites, Artificial Flavor. The egg whites are in the nougat, where they act as a whipping agent to create the aerated texture.

Other US varieties follow the same pattern. Snickers White Chocolate uses a white chocolate shell (skim milk, milkfat, cocoa butter) and egg whites in the nougat.

Snickers Pecan contains the same chocolate and egg whites. The Snickers Hi Protein bar adds whey protein isolate on top of the dairy already present, making it even further from vegan.

The UK and European formulations are similarly non-vegan, listing whole milk powder and dried egg white. Mars has not released a commercial vegan Snickers as of mid-2026, unlike some competitors who have launched dairy-free chocolate lines.

There is no version of the retail Snickers bar that is vegan in any major market.
