Is Chobani Vegan?
It Depends
Not certifiedChobani is primarily a dairy brand. Its core Greek yogurt line is made from cow's milk and is not vegan. The company launched oat-based dairy-free yogurt cups years ago but discontinued them. The surviving plant-based line is Chobani Oat Milk (drinkable beverage in Original, Vanilla, Extra Creamy, and Barista editions), which is vegan by ingredients. There is no current dairy-free yogurt alternative still in production under the Chobani name as of 2025-2026.
The catch: The default Chobani product is cow's milk yogurt, which is not vegan. The only currently available vegan Chobani products are the oat milk beverages, not yogurt.

Chobani
Chobani's entire Greek yogurt lineup, including plain, blended, Flip, and Crunch varieties, is built on cultured cow's milk. No gelatin is used in any Chobani product (they use fruit pectin and locust bean gum as thickeners), and carmine does not appear in their ingredient lists.
However, some flavors such as Honey and Cream Greek Yogurt explicitly contain honey, adding another non-vegan ingredient on top of the dairy. Chobani launched oat-based dairy-free yogurt cups around 2020-2021 (coconut and oat blends, vegan by ingredients) but the company confirmed the line was discontinued after poor sales performance.
As of 2025-2026, the only plant-based Chobani products still on shelves are the Chobani Oat Milk beverages: Original, Vanilla, Extra Creamy, and a Barista Edition. These oat milks are plant-based, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, and use Vitamin D2 sourced from yeast (not animal-derived D3), making them genuinely vegan.
Bone char-processed cane sugar is a concern strict vegans may raise for both the dairy yogurt and oat milk lines, as Chobani does not advertise organic or unrefined sugar in most SKUs. The brand is not certified vegan by any third-party organization.
